Minutes from Meeting, Nov 21, 2023
We gathered in the Pioneer Room of the Manson’s Hall. Margaret chaired.
At this meeting Kathleen Monahan, Coordinator of the Nav-CARE program recently launched by Quadra Circle, joined us on the screen. The Nav-CARE program will extend to Cortes Island in 2024, continuing the Compassionate Community Project launched this summer and currently being coordinated by Carina. Kathleen will tell us about the program, answer questions, and let us know the steps to become or transition to becoming a Nav-CARE volunteer on Cortes.
During the business portion of the meeting we discussed Nav-CARE; here were some comments. The name isn’t inviting. “Better AT Home” is a great name, because of course people want to participate. To admit one is suffering from loneliness carries shame. Also if it is not just for the elderly, why does all the literature portray only old people?
